Defence

The Defence.

Kevin Nunn was given bail a year before the trial. There was no further 'evidence' provided by Suffolk Police from that day up until the trial.

The 1mm hair found in the laundry basket belonging to Kevin Nunn was said to be "similar" to Dawn Walker. They could not ascertain how long the hair had been in the laundry basket or who it belonged to. Forensic tests suggest it was cut not shaven.

No Forensic evidence was found in Kevin's clothing, bedding, house, pipes, garden, or car. No Forensic evidence was found In Dawn Walker's house, or garden. No forensic report was seen by the Defence for Dawn Walkers motor vehicle car? Strange, as a couple of witness statements noticed it was parked in an odd position from normal. If, as the prosecution claim, she had been killed, taken out of the house, brought back in the house, and then taken out again, over a 48 hour period, burnt skin samples, hair, and bodily fluids would have been evident? Dawn was a fit, strong young woman, there was no signs of a struggle, defence wounds, or any injury that would have caused death.

Kevin made a telephone call to the police station on the Friday afternoon to say he had been out walking, looking for Dawn, and did not know what else to do. He had contacted her work colleague ( the first time he had spoken to him ) who had also not heard from Dawn. He reported Dawn missing on Friday morning and gave a statement to the police on Saturday afternoon which stated he walked along the public footpath by the river Lark, a walk they often did together, as well as other nearby routes.

Kevin Nunn's footprints confirmed this, as he freely gave his walking boots to the police. However the footprints did not deviate from the public footpath and continued away from the alleged burn site, therefore he could not have carried the body.

Dawn Walker liked to remain in contact with all her ex boyfriends. Regardless of whether they had been violent or had married. One ex boyfriend (Salisbury) had a key to the house until he alleges he gave the key back in January 2005. He would hang her washing out, provide shopping and have his hair cut with Dawn every month or so as they had the same hair dresser. Kevin admitted he was not happy with this arrangement and discussed this openly with Dawn. However, Kevin did admit to following Dawn one evening when she was having a drink with another male, Dawn saw Kevin's car and he stopped and spoke to her. He felt stupid and silly and never did it again. Jealousy was the main theme in court.

When Kevin reported Dawn missing on Friday 4 February 2005 he admitted he had a key cut to Dawn Walker's house and gave the police the key. Due to his insecurity in the relationship, the key gave him knowledge that Dawn was still keen, as she said she would take down photographs if she felt a relationship was coming to an end. Kevin openly admitted to the key. He said he feels very bad about this as 'he let Dawn down' There was nothing sinister about the key. No one else was aware Kevin 'did not' have a key to her home.

As part of his bail conditions Kevin had to see two Forensic Psychiatrists. They both said Kevin did not and has not suffered from mental ill health and was NOT a danger to the public. They also concluded he did NOT have "pre morbid jealousy". This information unfortunately was not given to the jury.

Residents in Oak Close gave various accounts of the disturbance in the vicinity on the Wednesday evening. Door to door enquiry forms taken by the police show on some of the paperwork, that there was a lot of noise made by teenagers living in the Close. They were larking about and running up and down the Close around the alleged time, this was confirmed by their parents. Statements and a video taken during the investigation of one of the teenagers are in the 'unused' material which we are still trying to obtain from Suffolk Police. Did the teenager recall seeing anyone arriving early on in the evening or see a motor vehicle parked outside Dawn Walker's home? Did any of the teenagers see or hear an argument as stated by another witness Thompson at around 10/10.30 pm?

The witness,Thompson, who allegedly saw Dawn Walker arguing on her drive, as he looked out from between his curtains, for a few SECONDS, said the male was taller than Dawn ( she was about 5'10 Kevin is about 5'8) and he was wearing a suit. CCTV footage from the Gym show Kevin leaving in casual clothes. He also failed to ID Kevin from a photo fit. Thompson ASSUMED it was Kevin on the drive. Thompson also failed to identify the car parked outside Dawn Walker's house. He said it was a saloon.

Kevin told the police he had received a voice mail message from Dawn Walker at 4.50am on Thursday 3 February 2005. He did not retrieve this message until 7.30am ish when he got up for work. He sent a text as he did not want to speak incase she pursuaded him to try again. She had done this earlier in the year. Unfortunately Kevin deleted the message. The police claim Kevin "forced" Dawn to make this message or he sent it himself from Dawn's mobile phone. Why do this and then delete it? Trianglation of this call proves it was made within 1.5 miles from Dawn's house. Kevin lived 13 miles away in Woolpit.

The main witness, Dale, claimed she saw Kevin with another moving some "heavy object" into the side of a silver estate car. Not the boot! Kevin was driving a black Passat Estate, a company owned car at this time. The assumption was made and portrayed to the jury by the prosecution that this "heavy object" was a body. This information was given to the local press even before the main prosecution witness Dale had taken to the stand during the trial. Witness Dale said in her statement (numerous statements!) she saw Kevin clearly as he was standing under the street light. The light is some 20 feet away from Dawn's house!

It was a cold February morning and this man was "wearing a shirt, rolled up on the arms", "immaculate for that time of morning". She alleges the house was well lit and the man carried on "struggling" to get this heavy object into the back side door of the silver car. How could you enter the close by car, park facing into a drive, get out of the car, walk into a house, roll up a 'heavy object', carry said object out of the house, up the drive and OPEN a back passenger door and struggle to put said object into the passenger seat in the time it took Dale to reverse from her drive!!

These men carried on with what they were doing despite being seen!?

This same witness (Dale) gave another statement claiming an ex boyfriend and near neighbour of Dawn (May) had 'claimed' he could do the 'perfect murder'. He gave the place, details of burning hair, and how he could do this without leaving any evidence. This was weeks BEFORE the murder. This statement was found in the 'unused material'. He was not interviewed and refused to provide a DNA sample. He has a history of violence and sex offending. The same witness (Dale) on another statement claims to have seen the 3 women in the Close on that Wednesday evening.
