Background Information

Kevin Nunn was 46 years old in December 2006. On the 20th November 2006 Kevin Nunn was wrongfully convicted of the murder of Dawn Walker.

He has not been given an opportunity to grieve or say goodbye to Dawn because the nightmare has never ended. Kevin is a gentle, kind and considerate man. Those who know him would regard him as ‘soft’ as he always has something positive to say about everyone, regardless of what they may have done to him. He does not hold a grudge, does not believe in violence, is passionate about nature and the environment.

Kevin had been dating Dawn Walker for two and a half years. He loved and cared for Dawn and had never harmed her or anyone else in his life.

They met at a local gym. Kevin had been divorced 12 years. He had been married previously for 5 years. He has two teenage boys who he had a good relationship with and had contact every other weekend, he always paid regular maintenance to his ex wife.

He worked as a sales representative for a welding company, and drove a black Volkswagen passatt, a company owned vehicle. Kevin had his own home, enjoyed holidays and played golf regularly. He had never been in trouble with the police apart from speeding fines. Kevin had a good relationship and a healthy sex life with Dawn Walker. They went on many exotic holidays, the last one being October 2004 and enjoyed walking and attending the gym.

Dawn Walker was a fitness fanatic, she was 37 yrs old and had never married and never had children. Dawn Walker told Kevin Nunn she did not “do families” as she was estranged from her family for at least 10 years - one sister, in particular had caused a family upset and had a argument with Dawn's mother over Dawn's father’s true identity. When in her early twenties, Dawn Walker had been in a violent relationship with a man named May, falling pregnant by him but having a termination. Dawn Walker had remain in contact with May who only lived a few doors away from her, she had moved into the village of Fornham St Martin a few months after May.

She lived with a gentleman named Salisbury. During this relationship, She had a fling with a work colleague, she became pregnant and had a termination.

Dawn Walker worked as a printer’s assistant. She enjoyed the attention of her male colleagues and would often bring into her workplace erotic magazines showing tantalising clothing, sex aids etc and boasting of her attendance at Erotica Exhibitions.

An ex boyfriend, Salisbury, had the door key to Dawn's house during Kevin Nunn's relationship with Dawn. He would often pop in with shopping, hang out her washing and even came around every 4/6 weeks to get his hair cut, as they had the same hairdresser. This arrangement continued even when Salisbury got married and alleges he returned the key in January 2005.

Kevin Nunn and Dawn Walker did discuss what was happening in the relationship; Kevin admitted he felt insecure with the relationship on occasions due to the above situation with Salisbury.

In December 2004 Dawn Walker met an old flame, called White, supposedly a chance meeting in a car park in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. This man stood on the stand at the trial saying it was a chance meeting but he continued to meet up with her, invited her to his home, sent her a bouquet of flowers/cards text and phoned. He told the court that Dawn Walker had decided to leave Kevin and be with him.

Dawn Walker had apparently been with White until the early hours of Wednesday morning 2nd February 2005. White alleges she had made her decision; she had sat in her car outside Kevin Nunn's house and then drove to White's house the same evening and knew she wanted to be with him. Dawn Walker was to tell Kevin Nunn on the Wednesday 2nd February evening.

Wednesday evening was the last time Dawn Walker was seen alive.

Wednesday evening White was less than half a mile away at the Three Kings, public house, with a woman (Markham) he had an on off relationship with, he was ending their relationship and explaining Dawn was doing the same with Kevin Nunn. He said he would "like to be a fly on the wall".

Markham was understandably upset and tearful. She claims she drove him back to his workplace where they chatted for an hour. He claims he then "locked" up and went home in Stowlangtoft, nr Bury St Edmunds. White said he had not planned to see Dawn until the following week, odd since he had bought a large quantity of cakes for his work colleagues on the Wednesday morning as a 'celebration' of getting back together.

White, a breakdown driver, claimed he was in Oaks Close, Fornham St Martin, on Thursday 3rd February, collecting a car from the neighbour opposite Dawn walker's house. He said he went to Dawn's backdoor and knocked. There was no reply. He then took the car to Cotton Lane, Bury St Edmunds, on the back of his truck. He claimed he lost his keys and had to return to Oaks Close to find them. However he states he never got out of his truck but looked from his window for the keys. He says he can produce a receipt for a copy of the keys, however, the cost was for one key only. How did he cut the key if he never found the original?

White did not have records of his movements for the rest of Thursday or for the whole of Friday 4th February 2005. He had asked a work colleague what he had been wearing during this time frame.

He was never formally interviewed by Suffolk Police.
